By Craig Bennett

Leading wristband and security pass provider, ID&C has shared its expertise in access control with up and coming event promoters as part of IQ Magazine's 'Virtual Festival'.

Speaking to a selection of the event industry's leading companies, the feature covered everything event organisers should consider when embarking on a new festival. Safety, ticketing, staging and promotion were some of the topics covered, with ID&C giving their advice on access control.

Ticketing and access

ID&C has worked with new festivals throughout its 18-year history and has introduced a number of patented solutions and wristband designs, that have since been widely adopted. The company embraces the opportunity to work with start-up festival promoters and encourages them to tap into ID&C's experience.

"We're regularly approached by new events seeking advice on their access control, something we're very happy to help with. Festival suppliers need festivals so it's important we support them right from the beginning." says ID&C's Craig Bennett.

Indeed, such its commitment in helping promoters find their festival feet, ID&C goes further by offering an annual bursary, giving up-and-coming festivals a chance to win £2000 worth of security wristbands and accreditation.

"As a family-run business ourselves, we understand the dedication needed to get ideas off the ground. We wouldn't shun a festival just because it is in its debut year." adds Bennett.

IQ writer, Christopher Austin closed the feature by looking at the new opportunities available to festival start-ups.

New opportunities

ID&C's Bennett believes that the industry is increasingly segmented and that the growing level of sub-genres provides forward-thinking entrepreneurs with an opportunity to service a gap in the festival market.

"With most music genres crossing over into the mainstream, promoters are being presented with new opportunities, whether it's an idea for a festival or a shift towards a particular music type. A few years ago, people didn't know what dubstep was, now Outlook festival in Croatia and the UK's Global Gathering have dedicated arenas for it, this presents an opportunity to widen their fan base and strengthen their footing."
